Summertime. Ahhhh.
I blinked, and June disappeared.
It happens every year. It’s like I’m holding my breath through May, ready to exhale, relax, and have time to really focus on writing—preferably by the pool. And the next thing I know, I’m buying the kids new backpacks and gearing up to readjust to the school year routine. If I’m not careful, this summer isn’t going to be any different, and for a lot of reasons, it really, really needs to be.
The good news is that I have been writing. Bits and pieces, snatched between random appointments and kiddo summer activities. I just haven’t had a decent space or time to focus.
Things could change, though. June was ridiculously crazy, but July is looking better (and hot!). So this is my accountability post: According to my Scrivener writing history (I love this feature), I wrote on 9 days and accumulated 438 new words.
I have three more chapters to write/revise. Three. That’s six, maybe seven more scenes. And then this draft will be done! I can do this. August 15 is my deadline, y’all. Hold me to it!
