Turtle Pace
Hi there! This is me. I’m the turtle. Don’t ask me where July and August went. It was June and then suddenly I was sending my kids off to school. 🤷♀️
Not gonna lie—summer is my favorite. I love the varied laxness and chaos, not having to set my alarm, the ability to make plans or not. But there is also an ease when the school year starts up again, and we’re back on a schedule, and the rhythm of the day becomes steady and dependable. (I know this won’t last forever. I’m just not going to think about it yet; I’ll cross that empty nest bridge when I get to it.)
Anyway, the rush of summer kind of dumped me into a new and exciting fall adventure: grad school! I’m so stoked about this. This particular master’s program has been my dream for over a decade. It’s caused a bit of a shake-up to my schedule, but nothing I can’t adapt to.
Even with the extra homework, I’m still swimming along with the fiction. The shift in priorities has actually given me a better focus and productivity level—and a new writing routine. I’m two chapters (4 scenes) from finishing this draft. And yeah, back in June I was three chapters (6 scenes) from finishing, but this is PROGRESS!
Slow and steady will win the race.
